Each training program focuses on our Positive Collections Toolbox, which is a collection of concepts and strategies used to build connections between students and staff. Our focus is on students, but all concepts can be applied to staff members simultaneously.
Our toolbox includes techniques and strategies for interacting with students to build strong positive connections, along with processes to maintain and restore the positive relationships built. The techniques, strategies, and processes in the toolbox are based on research and go hand in hand with the behavior management systems already in place on school campuses.
The tools included in our program have been put into practice with students in real-time, resulting in a more positive campus culture and a better understanding of school processes. The changes observed over three years of implementation included an increase in conflict resolution and trust built between students and staff that allows for preventative action instead of responsive action, reducing suspension rates for aggression and fighting. The positive relationships between students and staff also led to a reduction in drug-related suspensions as students shared more information with adults on campus.
